March 10, 2015– Irvine, CA-   Rhema Law Group, P.C. (“Rhema Law”), a boutique intellectual property & business law firm, announced on February 23, 2015 that the California Court of Appeals affirmed its previous jury trial victory, in favor of its client, Greenlight Financial, against Internet Brands, Inc.

“In upholding the jury’s verdict, the Appeals Court provided further validation of Internet Brands’ clear breach of contract involving the “Greenlight” trademark and “Greenlight.com” website. This signals that even large companies like Internet Brands, must honor their promises and perform under the terms of a contract,” said Greenlight Financial’s attorney, Rhema Law partner John D. Tran, who served as lead trial and appellate counsel on the matter.

Joann Pham, former CEO of Greenlight Financial added, “We are very pleased with the outcome and the work done by John Tran, Rosalind Ong and their team at the Rhema Law Group.  Above all, this case was about principles and that Internet Brands had to be held accountable for their actions in not honoring a previous agreement and refusing to acknowledge their wrongful actions when confronted with it.”

The matter was tried to a jury over six days culminating in a jury verdict on April 11, 2013 in the amount of $750,000.00 in favor of Greenlight Financial.  The Superior Court rejected Internet Brands’ request for new trial and granted Greenlight Financial’s request for attorney’s fees, costs and interest, bringing the total award to over $1 Million. Greenlight expects to also recover its attorneys’ fees and costs on appeal as well.
